My name is Rebecca Stuart, I am a clinical psychologist. I work with people who are experiencing all kinds of internal emotional struggles.

HOW I WORK: I treat the whole person rather than the surface problem, with a focus on emotional experience. I look at what has happened to you in the past to understand how your early life contributed to your current problems. I understand that “mental illnesses” are most often the result of mistreatment, abuse, or neglect, combined with ways that people have coped with what was beyond their control. I work on a regular basis as much as possible: I believe that progress is best made with regular weekly or fortnightly sessions. I value the therapeutic relationship above all else, which means that my connection to you is important to me, and I see it as crucial for the success of therapy.

*Please note: I do not do capacity assessments for NDIS or DSP applications.

WHAT I BELIEVE: I believe strongly in the value of mental health care  - on an individual, social, and societal level. I believe that mentally healthy individuals make healthy societies - and healthy societies make healthy individuals, so everyone benefits from the mental health of all.  Hence the name “common good”. I believe that good quality mental health care should be accessible to all who need it, and to this end, I keep my costs and fees down for people with little money. I recognise that life is harder for some than others, due to factors outside our control.
